Lagos, Nigeria – June 21, 2022 – SystemSpecs, leading financial, human capital management, and e-commerce technology giant in Africa, has presented prizes to winners of the 30th anniversary edition of its annual Children’s Day Essay Competition in a recent ceremony at its office in Lagos, the commercial capital of Nigeria.

L-R: Ekemini Keziah Effiong-Robert of the African Church Model College, Agege, Lagos, winner, senior category; Group Managing Director, SystemSpecs, John Obaro; and winner, junior category, Oluwaseun Samuel Temitayo-Ojo of Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos

In the 30th anniversary and third edition of the annual competition, Nigerian children aged 9 to 16 shared relevant technology-led ideas with the potential of transforming the nation’s educational system.

Access to quality education remains a challenge in Nigeria, where about 10.5 million of the country’s children aged 5-14 years are out of school, according to UNICEF. Even for those who are in school, learning is often hampered by a series of factors, including lack of funding, inadequate teaching equipment and remoteness of education centres. The SystemSpecs essay competition is aimed at synthesizing technology ideas that can facilitate better access to education.
